Two baby boys, born just 13 minutes apart, were accidentally swapped by hospital staff after being bathed.

The child who should have grown up in a wealthy family ended up with a widowed, impoverished mother. He had to make a living on government welfare in a tiny, 100-square-foot home.

The boy studied by candlelight; he worked in a factory during the day and attended school at night. Later, he worked as a truck driver and remained unmarried, dedicating his life to supporting the brothers with whom he had grown up.

Meanwhile, the child born to the poor family grew up in a wealthy household. He received an education from private tutors and attended a prestigious university. He eventually became the successful CEO of a major real estate company.

This truth came to light decades later. Suspicions among family members led to a DNA test, which confirmed that he was not the family's biological son.

By the time the true biological son was identified through hospital records, he was already 60 years old. Sadly, both his biological parents had already passed away.

In 2013, a Tokyo court acknowledged the life opportunities lost and the emotional distress caused by this error, ordering the hospital to pay ¥38 million (approximately $374,000 at the time) in compensation.
